Project: Aloha Theater

Description: Convert dilapidated historic theater building into mixed-use retail/restaurant complex. The proceeds from operations will be managed by a non-profit organization to fund community activities and restoration projects.

SketchUp needs: produce renderings to enable project funding goals.

The Aloha Theater in 1940. It is the center of town in Hanapepe, on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. This project will restore the building facade to preserve the Old Town Hanapepe historic value.

Project: Birdsong Hale - a vacation rental property in Princeville HI
Description: on going remodeling work to prepare a property for vacation-rental usage.
SketchUp needs: produce 3D layout view of interior to enable owners to visualize proposed remodeling of the kitchen, enhancing the views upon entry and from kitchen.

This view from upstairs shows the front door entry and the placement of buffet structure. The proposed modifications are to turn the buffet into a 42" high, fixed counter-top bar. This will open up the view upon entry through the front door.

This is the first-floor back lanai. We are replacing rotted wood on exterior surfaces and repainting the exterior. A quartzite stone tile will be installed on the lanai.

This shot is from the living room window-wall looking back into the entry and kitchen. Those are doors leaning against the buffet. The proposed work is to turn the buffet into a 42" high bar with surround seating. Also, to remove the kitchen cabinets above the peninsula cabinet, and lower the existing 42" high bar to create a flat 36" counter top on the peninsula.

This is the view upon entry from the front door. When the buffet is lowered, it will enhance the expansive view of the living room.

Project: Surf Song Vacation Rental
Description: Modifications/additions to an existing vacation-rental property in Princeville, on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.
SketchUp needs: create as-built drawings to submit to county planning for permit modifications/approval.

This view is from standing to the scaffolding, under the bale roof structure...just to show the incredible view.

A side view of the bale structure. It was originally designed to have an 8/12 pitched roof with cedar shake shingles. However, after erecting the scaffolding to begin the roof framing, the view from the top of the scaffolding encouraged the owner to modify the structure to a flat roof design, enabling a future elevated entertainment lanai.

Project: Anini Vista Bales
Description: These bales were built using clear-heart cedar for the posts, beams, rafters and purlins, with Ipe for the deck and deck framing, with weaved natural thatch for the roofing material.
SketchUp Needs: none, this is a completed project.
